I William Whitchurch Clerk of the Parish of Silchester Hants being of sound mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament but first request that my Body be buried at as moderate an Expence as possible my next request is that my Funeral and Testamentary Charges be paid as soon as possible after my decease and all other my just debts to effect which my will is that all my Farming Stock Horses Waggons Carts Ploughs Cow that may be growing in Barus? or Granary? be sold and that such money be employed to this purpose and in case the same should not be equal to the liquidating my just debts then I order that the Remainder be paid from my Stock in the 5 pr Cents I now give and bequeath unto my affectionate wife Charlotte Florence Whitchurch all my household Goods Brewing Utensils Washing Etc for her sole use and benefit. I also give unto her all my Books except such as she knows are promised to my Children already given I also give unto my said wife all my plate I give also unto her all my coins that are really my own hoping that she will take care of those that have been given my Children by their good Aunt and others and exhort them always to retain them in memory of their Friends I give unto the care of my dear wife my Gold watch and Seals for the use of my dear Son James which I do not wish he shall possess till she dies unless she should otherwise choose I give unto my dear Aunt Theobald the Sum of 5 Guineas to buy a Ring also unto Miss Gooch and Blechynden two Guineas each for the like purpose To X—– Hall 10 for her faithful Services and affection for my Children I give unto the Revd Wm Hasker of Chinchain? and Edward Williams of Great Maddon Street Hanover Square London the Sum of 25L each provided they will accept the office of Trustees & Guardians to my Children and Executors of this my last will and Testament I give unto the said Revd Wm Hasker and Revd Edward Williams in Trust the Residue and Remainder of all Property that I may possess at my decease for the sole use and benefit my children to educate clothe and keep them to be divided amongst them share and share alike when they attain the ages of 21 years respectively or if they marry earlier provided such marriages are approved of by their mother should she be alive and their said Guardians & Trustees The Revd Wm Hasker & Edward Williams praying that God will bless all my dear Family and give us a joyful —ting in Eternity through X–. I conclude this my last will & Testament —– the 22d day of August 1812 and written with mine own hand William Whitchurch Signed sealed published and declared to be the last will and Testament of the Revd William Whitchurch in presence of us who at his request and in presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses of the same
Appeared personally William John Barton of Silchester in the County of Hants Farmer and George Goddard of Silchester in the said County shopkeeper and jointly and severally made oath that they knew and were well acquainted with the Revd William Whitchurch late of Silchester in the said County of Southampton, Clerk decd for a considerable time before and to the time of his death which happened as they have been informed and believe on the 13th day of April last during such their knowledge of and acquaintance with the said Decd they have frequently seen him write and also write and subscribe his name whereby they are become well acquainted with his manner and character of handwriting and subscription and having now with care and attention viewed and perused the paper writing hereunto annexed purporting to be the last will and Testament of the said Deceased beginning thus “I William Whitchurch Clerk of the Parish of Silchester Hants” ending thus “ I conclude this my last will @ Testament made the 22d Day of August 1812 and written with mine own hand” and thus subscribed “William Whitchurch” with a clause of attestation subjoined in the words following viz “signed sealed published and declared to be the last will and Testament of the Revd William Whitchurch in the presence of who at his request and in presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses of the same” they these Deponents jointly and severally depose that they do verily and in their consciences believe the whole Body Series and Contents of the said will and the Subscription of the Revd William Whitchurch Clerk the Testator deceased, Wm Jon Barton, George Goddard on the 21st Jun 1813 the said William John Barton and George Goddard were duly sworn to the truth of this affidavit by virtue of the Commission hereunto annexed Before me Revd John Hemus?
Proved at London 30th June 1813 before the Judge by the oaths of the Reverend William Hasker Clerk and the Reverend Edward Williams Clerk the Executors to whom Admin was granted they being been first sworn to wit the – Revd Wm Hasker Clk by Commission and the Revd Edwd Williams Clk before the Worpl. Samuel Pearce parson Dr of Laws and Swear? duly to admr. Charlotte Florence Whitchurch widow the Relict of the Decd having first consented.
