Whitchurch, William 1621 *

In the name of God, Amen, I William Whitchurch of Froome Zellwood in the Countie of Somerset, Lynnen Drape, doe thus ordaine my last will and testament; First I doe —– —– my soule into the hande of my creator and Redeemer, —– that by the meritte of his death it may be —– —– presented unto him. And my bodie I comitt unto the grave, in hope of the resurrection. Imprimis I give to the poore of Froome Tenne shillinge. Item unto the Church —– Tenne shillinge. Item whereas I have lande in the parish of Nunny? in the —– of John Butersett some parte whereof , hath in —– All the —– land and houses, together with all the member and pas—– thereof, I give unto Joseph my sonne and his heires for ever And fayling him and his heires, to Anthony my sonne and his heires for ever. And in default of such heires I give and bequeath the lands aforesaid to Henry my sonne and his heires for ever Item I give unto Henry my sonne all that messuage or Tenement with the lande thereunto belonging —– —– in Froome with A —– of John —– of London —– To have and to hould to —– to him and his heires for ever. And in default of such heires to Anthone my sonne and his heires for ever. And faylinge him and his heires to Joseph my sonne, and his heires for ever. Item —– I purchased of John Winth—– and Da—– his sonne , a parcell of land at Badco—– in Froome. All that lands, —– with the houses thereupon I give unto Roberte my sonne and his heires forever, And faylinge him and his heires, to Henry my sonne and his heires for ever. And in defaulte of such heires to Anthony my sonne and his heires for ever. Item I give and bequeath my lease of —– I purchased of Con—– Leversedge Esquire unto Anthonie my sonne together with the whole terme of yeares remayning —– the same lease, under these conditions and clauses, and referrandus followinge, and noe other —–, that is to saye, that he shall suffer Susann my wife to hold occupie and enjoye the said grounde together with the whole benefitt and profitt thereof, until such time as he shall come to the age of Twenty yeares. Item whereas doe I hold a certain ground called P—mister lying within the parish of Froome, together with a messuage, tenement, situate in Chipstreete? in Froome aforesaid, and nowe in the use of John Norfolke Woollen Drape; And also one other ground, parcell of the same, and grannted in the same Deede, knowne by the name of P—mister Marsh, near St? James —–, together with ground in Clinke and Wall Marshe called the Furse? close contayninge aboute eight acres all wich are contayned in and Deede and purchased from John —– Gent; for the terme of his life, and the reversion after his life, of One and twenty yeares granted by Edmund Leversedge Esquire to this testator All with Messuages or Tenement, together with the rented grounde aforesaid, I give and bequeathe to William the younger my sonne under the Clauses and referrand followinge, and not otherwise, that is to say, that Susanne my wieffe shall hold occupie and enjoy the land, together with the profitt and benefitt thereof until the said William the younger shall come to the age of Twenty five? yeares. Item I give unto Robert my sonne, my lease of Barrow? together with the whole terme and estate unto mee belonging wich is nowe in the —–John —– husbandman. Item I give unto Roberte my sonne the tenement wich is at the end of Chepestreete? purchased of —– Ed. —– and late in the possession of Alice Morishe and —– together with the lease and the whole terme remayninge. Item whereas I hold a ground in Clinte by the life of George? Jorden, my will is, that the whole benefitt thereof, during the life of George Jorden aforesaid, shall —– unto Thomas my sonne. Allsoe I give unto Thomas aforesaid, the some of Twenty pounds, whereof Tenne pounds to be payde when he comes out of his Apprentishippe, and tenne pounds within a monthe after. Item I give unto Henry my sonne Fortie pounds to be paide him at the age of Twenty one yeares. Item I give to Anthonie my sonne Twenty pounds to be paide at the yeares of twentyone. Item I give unto Sicely, and Rachell my daughters Fifty pounds a peece Item I give unto Susanne my daughter Twenty shillings. Item I give unto Saml my sonne the grounds which were late Walter —–, lying in Filtom Marsh nowe in the terme of Huyhe? Hales. Item I give to Mary Baker my daughter the some of Tenne pounds to arise out of the debte which Robert Baker her husband oweth mee, for the which the said Roberte and his father stand bound. Item I give unto Sarah my daughter twenty shillings. Item I give to Melior and Katherine my daughters twentie shillings a peece. All the rest of my goods chattells cattle —– and creditts I give unto Susanne my wieffe, whome I make my Executrix of this my Testament Dated the seconde day of January 1620. And published as his last will in the presence of Anth; Mothrin. W.J.Church. Item he did appointe Anthony Methrim vicar of Froome and William Pearce of the same gent. —–of this my last will, and doe desire my wife, when it shall appeare what estate as remaynes to her above my debts and legacies, that she will be directed by them, to amend the porton of somes of my children.
